Homes
that are manufactured using Timber Frame Technology
tend to look exactly like their brick and block
counterparts. The block inner skin of the external wall is replaced
with a timber frame structure and the external leaf is either brick or
stone, thus giving the appearance of a traditionally built home. See
diagram
Timber
Frame Construction gives the client many advantages, including the
reduction in heat loss from the structure and the rapid on site speed of
build.
As we
make the timber frame element of your home within our factory workshop in
Northumberland, no on-site time is lost due to inclement weather. Lost
time causes unnecessary delays to completion and can ultimately tie up
capital in a project for longer than anticipated. reduced build time
will enable earlier occupation as well as reducing the overall
costs.
A timber frame house can be completed in weeks rather
than months, and its supporting structure, once erected provides a
weatherproof shell for other trades to work within.
Timber
frame structures are environmentally friendly. The wood used is treated
whenever possible with Osmose Naturewood, an environmentally sound
preservative. It is sourced from managed forests where more trees are
planted than are cut down. Timber uses about 20% less energy than other
construction materials to bring it to finished grade. Its simple to use
and gives value for money. Timber is recyclable and comes from a
sustainable resource.

The use of Masonite beams is
another alternative to traditional build. these beams are
structurally engineered using high-grade flanges with a
Masonite structural board insert for the web. Used within
walls or floors (different products) they offer lightweight
construction, greater span potential than some other
materials, strength and versatility, together will space to
accommodate a greater depth of insulation (such as
Warmcel).
